10 Week Practice Guide

Being an adult player without weekly lessons, I have often found the Ray Mase 10 Week Guide helpful in structuring my practice sessions.  In order to save weight in my case, I copied each page from the books listed and coil bound them into one volume.  Further, to stay organized, I created a grid that shows each week with 7 blocks to check off for each exercise.  This way I ensure that each one is done 7 times before moving on.  It generally takes about 35-45 minutes to go through this routine as Mr. Mase presented it.

The Mase 10 Week guide is very articulation centered and in my opinion does not present enough in the way of lip flexibilities.  Also, some of the page numbers are not relevant with newer published materials.  Therefore, I have decided to keep create a new 10 Week Practice Guide which incorporates all of my personal favorite parts of Mr. Mase's while also adding more lip flexibility and a progression from slurring to tonguing which sequences a bit more seamlessly in my daily approach.

I begin each day with a "Balancing and Centering" compilation of exercises taken from Cichowicz and Stamp among others.  After a rest period, I move into the core of the 10 Week Guide.  After only a month of this progression significant gains will be felt and heard.

Below is my new interpretation to the 10 Week Guide.  It's a work in progress and only my ideas of what should be included.  It is certainly not perfect, but I wanted to present it here so that it might be a spring board for others to craft a practice sessions which works for them.
