Lesson Handbook

Welcome to the lesson handbook.  Below you will find details which will inform you about procedures of scheduling lessons, billing lessons and changing scheduled lessons.  Also, studio recital information is below.

Scheduling

During the school year a normal weekly lesson day/time must be maintained in order to allow for a constant schedule for all students.

Summer Lessons are scheduled using a slightly different method and will be addressed in May. Weekly lessons are not required over the summer.

I will not teach bi-weekly lessons due to progress being slowed or stopped using this method.  Also, between holidays, school conflicts, my performing schedule, etc, many months will only have three lessons anyway.

Billing

Lessons are billed monthly and payment is due by the 6th day of each month.  If your first lesson of the month is before the 6th, you may bring a check or cash to your lessons.  If it is after the 6th, payment must be mailed or sent via PayPal (as friends/family to avoid fee).

Sometimes unforeseen financial issues occur.  If you find yourself in a situation, please let me know and we can work together to find a solution.

Changing

If a scheduled lesson needs to be rescheduled due to an unforeseen conflict, please follow these steps:

1. Email me to alert me to the conflict.
2. Check the schedule on this site to see if another lesson would work for you.
3. Using the shared email address list, contact that parent to see if a mutual exchange is possible.  CC me on this email so that I'm in the loop.

If an emergency occurs (sickness, weather related, etc) within 24 hours of your lesson, please text me to let me know.  Text is best because I will probably be teaching or playing and not able to answer my phone.  I can always see a text.

Studio Recital

There will be a voluntary studio recital once or twice per year.  These recitals offer an opportunity for students to perform in front of each other in a comfortable and safe environment.  Recitals are held at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab.
